“Byron Mark is full of surprises: this album ducks, weaves, winds and wanders across genres in utterly unselfconscious, serpentine fashion. And I’m lovin’ it.” (Syke Off Stage; 2016)
“I went home with not just one, but two CD’s in hand, knowing I’d bump into someone who missed out on the event that just had to hear this fine album.” (Anna Griffiths; Cadencia Productions)
“Byron has brought together a wealth of talent (including his own diverse endowments) to produce an adventurous, unambiguously eclectic album of deep imagination and musicality. (Syke Off Stage; 2016)
After spending the first 14 years of his professional music career collaborating on other projects and writing together with different artists on other projects, Byron finally decided to create some music of his own!
“My vision for AMALGAMATION was to finish writing and recording songs that I had started over the years, featuring many of the amazing musicians I had worked with along the way. I selected specific musicians and instruments that take each piece of music on the journey it needs to sound complete…….I decided to call the album ‘Amalgamation’ because the music you will hear is pretty much a big melting pot of genres and instruments.”
- The video clip from the debut single ‘Piano Dance‘ from ‘Amalgamation‘ received TOP 10 in the ‘UK SONGWRITING COMPETITION’ (2016). Big thanks to Daniel Fenech and his crew at ‘Brick Studios’ for producing this video.
- The second single from the album, ‘Fuego Nocturno’ scored a top 5 ranking in the INSTRUMENTAL section of the the 2016 Independent Music Awards (MusicOz). This song was a co-write together with life long friend and musical colleague, Luke Koteras. We were stoked with this result!
- On October 6 2016, ‘Amalgamation’ was officially launched at Venue 505 in Surry Hills Sydney. The evening featured 32 musicians and dancers performing the repertoire on the album to a SOLD OUT audience! It was a very special night!
- On June 24 2017, Byron produced an ‘Amalgamation RE-VAMP’ concert; performing re-arrangements from Amalgamation and some new compositions.
